Energy Conservation for State Buildings and Vehicles bills
The following is a list of bills pertaining to Energy Conservation for State Buildings and Vehicles that MEIC followed at the 2007 Legislature, and their final status:
HB 495 (Rep. Jon Sesso, D-Butte). Each session, the Department of Environmental Quality requests a bill to fund energy conservation projects in State-owned buildings. This year’s bill would have provided $126 million in bonding authority to fund 43 projects statewide. Such programs are not only good for the environment, they also save taxpayer dollars by reducing waste. MEIC Position: SUPPORT. NOTE: these provisions may be revived in another bill this session
- Bill tabled by House Appropriations Committee on 3/21/07; (H) Motion Failed to take from table and place on 2nd Reading.
SB 449 (Sen. Kim Gillan, D-Billings): As with HB 495, SB 449 makes the State more energy-efficient by requiring that additions to the vehicle fleet meet federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards. MEIC Position: SUPPORT.
- Passed by Legislature — signed into Law by Governor.
