Among the host of adverse impacts that climate change will have  on both human and natural systems:

• Projected climate change by the year 2050 will likely lead to the extinction of 1/4 of all plant species.
• With just 1 degree in temperature change, we've already seen major impacts: in 1998, 16% of the world's reef-building coral died.
• The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicts "increased summer continental drying and associated risk of drought" over most mid-latitude continental interiors, furthering a trend already observed in the latter half of the 20th century.
• Since 1999, MT's wheat yields have been 15-30% less than the previous 10 years.
  
• Climate change will increase both the number and intensity of wildfires, with major repercussions for human developments, wildlife species, and ecosystems.
• Wildfires themselves release large pulses of greenhouse gases, causing a feedback loop.
