Montana’s rich mining history, including “the richest hill on earth” in Butte, has also left a legacy of abandoned mine cleanups and contaminated water at mines including:


MEIC works to ensure that Montanans constitutional guarantee of a “clean and healthful environment” is upheld, that there is adequate bonding and complete reclamation of all mine sites, and that the practice of allowing perpetual water treatment at new metal mines is ended.
